What Happens When You Add a 20-Year-Old Member

When you add a new member who is 20 years old, the software will flag that they cannot be marked as "Junior" and must be set as "Senior." This may seem incorrect if you consider Under 21 archers as juniors for competition purposes, but the system makes an important distinction.

Understanding the Difference: Legal Status vs. Age Group

The software separates legal adult status from competition age groups:

Junior flag: This identifies members under 18 years old who are not legally adults. These members require enhanced safeguarding measures and other protections for minors.
Age group: This determines competition eligibility. A member can be legally an adult (18 or over) while still competing in the U21 age group category.

How This Works in Practice

A 20-year-old member will be:

Marked as "Senior" in the system (because they are a legal adult)
Still eligible to compete in U21 or junior competitions (based on their age group)
Not subject to the enhanced safeguarding requirements that apply to under-18 members

This distinction ensures the software correctly applies legal requirements while maintaining accurate competition eligibility based on age.
